The physiotherapy unit at our Assessment & Therapeutic Centre (ATC) in Bhubaneswar was set up on 31 January 2021. It is staffed by one full-time physiotherapist and an experienced physiotherapy helper, who together provide regular, structured care to the children who come to us.
Physiotherapy helps restore the functioning of muscles and joints and supports postural and motor development. This work matters especially for children with cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities, for whom steady, ongoing therapy can make a real difference to everyday movement and independence.
Since it opened, the unit has delivered nearly 600 therapeutic interventions, all free of cost. Until now, families from Bhubaneswar and the surrounding districts of Odisha often had to travel to Cuttack or out of state to find this kind of care.
Having the unit at the ATC means assessment and therapy can continue in one place, close to home. It reduces the burden of travel on families and helps children keep to the consistent schedule that physiotherapy depends on.
