Home-Based Training — Reaching Children Who Cannot Come to School

5 October 2024

Not every child with disabilities can travel to a special school. Distance, mobility, and the demands of daily care mean that many children in Odisha's districts would otherwise go without structured support.

Through our home-based training programme, the Institute's trained professionals visit these children in their own homes. There, they deliver special education directly and guide parents and caregivers in the day-to-day work of teaching and care.

This itinerant model reduces the travel burden on families and extends the Institute's reach to underserved households well beyond Bhubaneswar. Rather than asking families to come to us, our team goes to them.

Between visits, parents are given structured home programmes to follow, so that learning continues in the weeks when a professional is not present. The aim is steady, consistent progress within the child's own home and community.
